This is a single-theme composition reader covering the subject of gender. It provides 64 multigenre selections that address the importance of relationships in our lives and the various issues, values and responsibilties they raise. Readings have been selected from fiction, drama, poetry and scholarly writing to expose students to a multitude of perspectives. Each chapter includes an introduction which presents key questions to be explored while studying the chapter. The book also offers a wide range of readings, each of which are preceded by a brief author biography and followed by questions on content and structure. In addition, it features a section of writing assignments called "complements" at the end of each chapter which asks students to explore links between the readings in that chapter.
