Antioxidant and Redox Regulation of Genes

Oxidation is any reaction in which electrons are removed from a molecule, thus increasing the number of binding sites on the molecule that are able to react with other atoms and molecules. This volume addresses oxidation-reduction (redox) and antioxidant sensitive molecular mechanisms. Recent work in this area has revealed that these mechanisms may be linked with different disease processes, such as immune response, cell proliferation, inflammation, metabolism, aging, and cell death. The chapters provide research findings, as well as summary illustrations and possible strategies to pharmacologically and/or nutritionally manipulate these redox-sensitive molecular responses.
