A good primer
By Tech Geek - March 30, 2008This is a great overview of modern video technology and achieves the authors' goal, namely "easy to understand explanations of the entire world of video."
Each chapter is pretty much self-supporting, so you don't have to read the entire book cover to cover. Having said that, the book is a fairly quick read. The copious illustrations are clear and the use of real world equipment is helpful to those that may be exposed to it.
This isn't the book to give detail about ever single aspect of a topic, but it certainly gives you enough to make use of the more specialised texts.
great coverage of video

This book provides the best detailed coverage of video I have seen after looking a many books on multimedia. The material covers technical aspects in a way that makes them understandable for someone without an electrical engineering background but provides the details needed to really understand video. Recommended highly.
Great book!
