A precursor article, \'The Art of Improvisation and the Aesthetics of Imperfection\', contrasted the perfectionist aesthetic of the \'work-concept\'with theimperfectionist aesthetic of improvisation. Imperfectionist approaches to recording are purist in wanting to maintain the diachronic and synchronic integrity of the performance, which perfectionist recording creatively subverts through mixing and editing. But a purist transparency thesis cannot evadethe factthatthe recordedimageiscrafted; againstcreative editing, however, theimperfectionist ideal of the\'complete take\'is humanistic and anti- mechanistic, and not mere Romantic illusion. The article concludes withadiscussion of the question of the artistic status of recording, and contrasts the possibility ofa non-acousmaticsound art with the essentially acousmatic art of music\";s:5:\"thumb\";s:70:\"images/t/431/the-art-of-recording-and-the-aesthetics-of-perfection.jpg\";s:6:\"thumb2\";s:71:\"images/t2/431/the-art-of-recording-and-the-aesthetics-of-perfection.jpg\";s:9:\"permalink\";s:53:\"the-art-of-recording-and-the-aesthetics-of-perfection\";s:5:\"pages\";s:2:\"18\";s:6:\"rating\";s:1:\"0\";s:5:\"voter\";s:1:\"0\";}i:1;O:8:\"stdClass\":13:{s:2:\"id\";s:5:\"75705\";s:6:\"status\";s:8:\"verified\";s:11:\"author_name\";s:4:\"wick\";s:9:\"author_id\";s:1:\"0\";s:14:\"author_website\";s:0:\"\";s:5:\"title\";s:51:\"The impacts of smoking and the benefits of quitting\";s:11:\"description\";s:210:\"This information sheet describes the negative impacts of smoking and the benefits of quitting. The country
\nconsists of two geographically distinct areas i.e. Peninsular Malaysia (West Malaysia),
\nwhich is attached to the main continent, and East Malaysia, which is located on the island
\nof Borneo. Peninsular Malaysia is divided into 12 states while East Malaysia is divided
\ninto 2 states (Sabah and Sarawak). The total population of Malaysia based on a 1996
\nprojected population report was approximately 20 million. It is a multiracial country with bout 53% of its population in rural areas. The Malay race makes up the majority of the
\npopulation (49%) followed by the Chinese (27%), indigenous people (13%), Indians
\n(8%) and other races (3%). The indigenous groups consist of a diverse mix of various
\nraces but are mostly made up of Kadazans, Muruts, Dusuns, Ibans, Bajaus, Bidayuhs, and
\nOrang Asli while \"other races\" consist of Eurasian and other minorities. Twelve percent
\nof the population is over 50 years of age while the male: female ratio is 1:1.
\nAccording to 1990 World Health Organization (WHO) estimates, the world prevalence of
\nblindness was 0.7%, ranging from 0.3% in the Established Market Economies to 1.4 % in
      \nSub-Saharan Africa.
      \n
\nIn South East Asia, the prevalence of blindness have been reported
\nas to be 1.2% in Indonesia, 1.1% in Thailand and 0.8% in Vietnam.
      \n
\nIn Malaysia, two population-based studies on blindness and visual impairment had been conducted in a
\nMalay sub-population in the same village, 10 years apart. The studies revealed prevalence
      \nrates of 4.3% and 1.7% in 1984 (sample size =515)and 5.6 % and 0.7 % in 1994
\n(sample size=341)for visual impairment and blindness respectively. Cataract was the
\nmajor cause of blindness in both the studies. Although these data were valuable,
\nimportant information about the country burden of blindness and low vision, and their
      \ncontributing causes remained unanswered.
\nThus the first Malaysian National Eye Survey (NES) was conducted in a representative
\nsample of the population to determine the prevalence of blindness and low vision and
\ntheir major causes in the country.\";s:5:\"thumb\";s:120:\"images/t/26/prevalence-of-blindness-and-low-vision-in-malaysian-population-results-from-the-national-eye-survey-1996.jpg\";s:6:\"thumb2\";s:121:\"images/t2/26/prevalence-of-blindness-and-low-vision-in-malaysian-population-results-from-the-national-eye-survey-1996.jpg\";s:9:\"permalink\";s:104:\"prevalence-of-blindness-and-low-vision-in-malaysian-population-results-from-the-national-eye-survey-1996\";s:5:\"pages\";s:2:\"16\";s:6:\"rating\";s:1:\"4\";s:5:\"voter\";s:1:\"5\";}i:4;O:8:\"stdClass\":13:{s:2:\"id\";s:4:\"4107\";s:6:\"status\";s:8:\"verified\";s:11:\"author_name\";s:6:\"shinta\";s:9:\"author_id\";s:3:\"377\";s:14:\"author_website\";s:0:\"\";s:5:\"title\";s:94:\"The Effects of Boiling and Leaching on the Content of Potassium and Other Minerals in Potatoes\";s:11:\"description\";s:1318:\"The white potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) is a valuable source of potassium in the human diet. While
\nmost consumers benefit from high levels of potassium in potato tubers, individuals with compromised kidney func-
\ntion must minimize their potassium intake. This study was undertaken to determine the effects of leaching and
\nboiling on levels of potassium and other minerals in potato tubers. Leaching alone did not significantly reduce lev-
\nels of potassium or other minerals in tubers. Boiling tuber cubes and shredded tubers decreased potassium levels by
\n50% and 75%, respectively. Reductions in mineral amounts following boiling were observed for phosphorus, mag-
\nnesium, sulfur, zinc, manganese, and iron. There was no difference between the leaching and boiling treatment and
\nthe boiling treatment. In addition, mineral levels in tubers of 6 North American potato cultivars are reported. Sig-
\nnificant differences in mineral levels were detected among cultivars, but they were too small to be nutritionally im-
\nportant. Individuals wishing to maximize the mineral nutrition benefits of consuming potatoes should boil them
\nwhole or bake, roast, or microwave them. Those who must reduce potassium uptake should boil small pieces before
\nconsuming them.\";s:5:\"thumb\";s:110:\"images/t/42/the-effects-of-boiling-and-leaching-on-the-content-of-potassium-and-other-minerals-in-potatoes.jpg\";s:6:\"thumb2\";s:111:\"images/t2/42/the-effects-of-boiling-and-leaching-on-the-content-of-potassium-and-other-minerals-in-potatoes.jpg\";s:9:\"permalink\";s:94:\"the-effects-of-boiling-and-leaching-on-the-content-of-potassium-and-other-minerals-in-potatoes\";s:5:\"pages\";s:1:\"7\";s:6:\"rating\";s:7:\"1.83333\";s:5:\"voter\";s:1:\"6\";}i:5;O:8:\"stdClass\":13:{s:2:\"id\";s:5:\"77845\";s:6:\"status\";s:8:\"verified\";s:11:\"author_name\";s:5:\"hanno\";s:9:\"author_id\";s:1:\"0\";s:14:\"author_website\";s:0:\"\";s:5:\"title\";s:64:\"On the significance of theme and thematic progression in the ...\";s:11:\"description\";s:386:\"This paper provides a detailed analysis about the themes and the thematic progression of a certain text, with Halliday\'s Systemic-Functional ideas as the theoretical foundation.
