This book did a fantastic job at clearly explaining different viewpoints concerning prophecy, the historicity of the prophetic books and major themes you can find throughout the prophets. Will cover "day of the Lord", the use of apocalyptic language, and much more!
Hays provides the most objective look at the prophets I am aware of. He presents different views and recognizes the pros and cons. He is faithful to interpret Scripture with Scripture, and recognize the authority of the Bible. They layout is attractive, and the content is thorough, but not dry. Hays provides excellent background and historical detail to put the Prophetic books in context.
Great book for gaining a good understanding of the 8th century prophets. Very helpful for anyone wishing to study the minor prophets.
