Bontrager's Handbook of Radiographic Positioning and Techniques
In addition to positioning descriptions for all body parts, this pocket-sized handbook includes basic information and applied aspects of radiographic techniques and exposure factors including numerous conversion charts.
Included is a chapter on descriptions and illustrations on the various forms of digital radiography currently in use. Also included are clear explanations with photographs of all commonly performed x-ray exams. This handbook is essentially a condensed version of the positioning and technique portions of Bontrager's Textbook of Radiographic Positioning and Related Anatomy, soon to be in its 7th edition.
This handbook is also an invaluable tool for learning radiographic positioning in a clinical setting. It has many of the features of the larger, classroom edition in a small, portable version.

Handy positioning book for Rad Tech student.
By lacey - February 27, 2012This book is very simple but covers all of the basic positions. I found the fluoro section to be a bit skimpy but the rest was nice. There is lots of room next to the text to make alterations if necessary. The cover has plastic in it so it will not get ruined very easily. Spiral bound and it stays together nicely. Each chapter is organized so that they can be flipped to quickly according to body part location.

By Nicky Bee - January 30, 2013I have owned the Merrill's equivalent for a few years, and while adequate, this version has more material; it includes more projections, with explanations and structures shown, among other more useful features. Although it is by no means a replacement for the full text edition, I consider to be a valuable tool for a student or even a recent grad. Definitely worth it.
