In the fifth book of the Capital Mysteries—an early chapter book mystery series featuring fun facts and famous sites from Washington, D.C.—it's party time in Washington, D.C.! The president is planning a celebration at the Lincoln Memorial in honor of the man who sculpted the famous statue of Abraham Lincoln. But KC and Marshall notice one small problem - one of the thumbs has broken off the statue! Has someone stolen Lincoln's thumb? Can KC and Marshall find it before the celebration?
Each book highlights one of the famous museums, buildings, or monuments from the Washington area and includes a map and a two-page fun fact spread with photographs. Parents, teachers, and librarians agree that these highly collectible chapter books are perfect for emerging readers and any kid who love mysteries!
All of the books in this series are great. My son started reading these to do a second grade book report. He had to read them all after that first one!
My son loves this series written by A-Z Mysteries author Ron Roy. We plan to purchase all of the books in the series...all long as he's reading, I'm happy!!!
In this series, Capital Mysteries, KC's mother has married the President, so KC lives in Washington D.C. She and her best friend, Marshall, go on many fascinating adventures and solve interesting mysteries. I find this series to be warm and cozy and interesting. This is a childrens chapter book series, so if you have young children, I highly recommend these books, as they are fun, interesting, entertaining, clean, warm, and cozy. And educational, as there is lots to learn about history and the modern day Presidency/Washington D.C.
In this particular book, "Who Broke Lincoln's Thumb?", KC and Marshall discover that the thumb is broken off of the Lincoln statue. KC is gong to do a report on the man who actually made this statue.
