A Therapist's Guide to EMDR reviews the theoretical basis for EMDR and presents new information on the neurobiology of trauma. It provides a detailed explanation of the procedural steps along with helpful suggestions and modifications.
Areas essential to successful utilization of EMDR are emphasized. Best practical handbook on EMDR!!
By fleuri - May 23, 2008I found Parnell's A Therapist Guide to EMDR so accessible and comprehensive, it was a pleasure to read. It is a great review for anyone who has just taken the courses or who wants to review and update their skills in EMDR. I loved the way she presented a technique and then often followed it up with very specific how-to case examples. I could clearly see Parnell's exceptional skillfulness and respectful caring for each of her clients' processes.
I also just find it helpful as a practical resource handbook to check up on a particular technique and read about the different aspects of it. Its a must have for EMDR therapists!

It is a practical book that gives a great deal of useful information on the implementation of EMDR with clients. As a therapist trained in EMDR, this book has been a wonderful bridge between the training I recieved and the actual use of EMDR in my psychotherapy practice. I have used this book as both a refresher course and as a guide to answer questions that come up as I work with clients. I highly recommend this book to all EMDR trained therapists as a resource and adjunct to their library.
Another "must have" by Laurel Parnell
