From Birth to Five Years, based on the pioneering work of Mary Sheridan, has become a classic guide to the developmental progress of pre-school children. It is widely recognised as an invaluable reference for professionals training or working in health, education and social care.
Features of this completely revised edition include:
Guidance is offered on ages at which children typically achieve key stages, whilst recognising individual variation in the rate of development and the influence of the child’s environment. Based on an ethos of health promotion and the need for a common assessment framework, the book will be welcomed by all those who work with infants and young children.

I didn't see a review on this book, so I wanted to add one. I checked this book out at our local library and will be purchasing it to add to my personal/professional library.
From a parent perspective: This book is a handy guide to see what developmental skills your child should be or will be achieving. I enjoyed reading it to see what my son can do and how it is line with his chronological age.
From a professional perspective: I plan to use this book as reference guide for preschool evaluations that I will be conducting. In addition to developmental skills, outlined by chronological age, this book is also a handy guide for those assessing developmental progress. Sometimes I need a refresher for work and I enjoyed that this book wasn't overly cumbersome and it was easy to use as quick reference and reminder for various skill inthe areas of social-emotional, motor, and communication skills. There are even 2 checklists for vision and hearing.
This book is so informative. It is easy to understand and a quick read with so much helpful information. I am grateful for it!
