More then the title suggests
By W. Frazier - April 10, 2010I have been referencing past editions of this book for years. It's the bible to architects for understanding this subject matter. It covers more then the title suggests including overall design strategy for site and building, passive design for the building environment, acoustics, illumination and day-lighting, water conservations systems, vertical building transportation systems and design, fire protection and suppression design, along with the active mechanical and electrical systems design and equipment technology that the title suggests. It is one of the core reference books for the architect's library and others related to building construction. This new addition updates to the latest technology, and sustainable design practices. Good execution, appendicies & tables need some work
By MAddison - January 27, 2012I bought this as a Kindle edition for an architecture class so I wouldn't have to break my back carrying the actual book to and from, and the chapters read just fine. All the illustrations in the chapters are linked in the text, so you can click and see what you're reading about, then immediately go back, so that's convenient.
Some of the reference tables in the appendices are hard to get to in the digital copy. Once you're on the page and table you want, you can tap the down arrow in the bottom middle of the table itself to scroll down and see all the tables, or you can go to "Location" and type in your current number+1 to get to the first table. Afterwards, you can page through all of them in that section. But it's not exactly straightforward. Some of the tables were scanned in sideways, so that makes it a little interesting if your Kindle rotates the screen depending on its orientation.

Could be Better
By Y. Cao - July 28, 2011I have an 8th edition at my shelves and I have been loving it for years. In anticipating to updating my knowledge I ordered this latest version. This edition did not meet my expectation and many areas could be done better. For electrical design part, it is still referring NEC 1999!
