In fact, it might even be indispensable. Hunter Muller deals with critical IT management issues including the cloud, virtualization, outsourcing, in-sourcing, talent management, contract management, leadership and vision. The interviews with CIOs from so many top companies alone make this book worth buying. Muller really highlights how the changing role of technology has put the CIO front and center in the modern global corporation. This book captures the moment we're all in, and accurately presents the multiple challenges facing senior technology executives in today's hyper-fast economy. No question that The Transformational CIO is necessary.

The book takes the reader through a journey of how CIOs have responded to a drastically changing market place. The bottom line in reading this book is that CIOs no longer can afford to be "order takers" from business stakeholders. The Transformation CIO is characterized as a business leader who understands how technology can enable business value.
The book outlines the contrasts between demand driven technology and that of utility driven technology operations. As the cloud has introduced us to numerous alternatives to hosting and operating traditional technology assets, CIOs are provided the opportunity to properly engage with the business for true value realization.
