It deals with fundamentals of plasticity as well as with numerical implementations and contains examples with computer program listings. Ideal as a reference book for anybody in the field of FE simulations for forming processes.
The authors are experts on computational plasticity: this work is highly recommended for every studying or working on material modeling. It particularly shines on its concise, easily understood notation, as well as its great presentation. The book derives relations from thermodynamical considerations, contains basic and advanced plasticity and hardening models, as well as advanced concepts of material modeling such as damage and finite strain theory. Continuum mechanics as well as useful mathematical relations are presented. All content is derived and thoroughly explained from the basics on the topic all the way to the extensions of models. There are many plasticity books in the market. Some of them are full of derivation, theory, but no content on algorithm design/computational methods. Another extremes are more or less cookbooks that do not contain sufficient background. I think this book is in the exact right balance. It is well written, easy to understand and full of detail information about implementations of plasticity models. It is a very useful book for graduate students and practicing engineers.
