Bookkeeping Essentials: How to Succeed as a Bookkeeper

Misleading Title

The title of this book is a bit misleading, because it does not teach you how to succeed as a bookkeeper. Most of the book (at least 65%) is really geared toward tasks that would normally be done by the controller of the company and/or even the accountant. It's a book that tells you how to calculate formulas such as needed to find out if taking an early discount on the payment of a bill would be worth it in terms of the interest rate that you are getting from having that money sit in the bank or invested vs. the loss of interest on paying it early (he does not deal with the dollar amount, which most business do).

The book deals with formulas, ratios and flow charts to keep tight controls on the cash flow, projections and budgeting---all task done by the controller in a large size company.
