The goal of this research was to explore the kind of commitment Asian companies have made to developing an ethical culture, what importance CFOs have attached to their companies performing in accordance with ethical practices, and whether attitudes towards ethics are changing and, if so, why. This report presents the findings of a survey of more than 160 CFOs and senior finance executives from mainland China, Hong Kong SAR, Malaysia, and Singapore. One hundred respondents originated from Asian-based companies, while 32 and 27 of the respondents came from companies headquartered in the United States and Europe, respectively (three respondents returned their questionnaires noting that their companies were based outside these regions). This direct questionnaire-based research has been supplemented with in-depth, one-on-one case study interviews with executives at six companies spanning a range of company types, industries, and locations.\";s:5:\"thumb\";s:65:\"images/t/123/corporate-governance-business-ethics-and-the-cfo.jpg\";s:6:\"thumb2\";s:66:\"images/t2/123/corporate-governance-business-ethics-and-the-cfo.jpg\";s:9:\"permalink\";s:48:\"corporate-governance-business-ethics-and-the-cfo\";s:5:\"pages\";s:2:\"36\";s:6:\"rating\";s:1:\"0\";s:5:\"voter\";s:1:\"0\";}i:4;O:8:\"stdClass\":13:{s:2:\"id\";s:5:\"12259\";s:6:\"status\";s:8:\"verified\";s:11:\"author_name\";s:7:\"samanta\";s:9:\"author_id\";s:4:\"1916\";s:14:\"author_website\";s:0:\"\";s:5:\"title\";s:37:\"BUSINESS ETHICS WITHOUT STAKEHOLDERS\";s:11:\"description\";s:923:\"One of the most influential ideas in the field of business ethics has been the suggestion that ethical conduct in a business context should be analyzed in terms of a set of fiduciary obligations toward various \"stakeholder\" groups. Moral problems, according to this view, involve reconciling such obligations in cases where stakeholder groups have conflicting interests. The question posed in this paper is whether the stakeholder paradigm represents the most fruitful way of articulating the moral problems that arise in business. By way of contrast, I outline two other possible approaches to business ethics: one, a more minimal conception, anchored in the notion of a fiduciary obligation toward shareholders; and the other, a broader conception, focused on the concept of market failure. I then argue that the latter offers a more satisfactory framework for the articulation of the social responsibilities of business.\";s:5:\"thumb\";s:53:\"images/t/123/business-ethics-without-stakeholders.jpg\";s:6:\"thumb2\";s:54:\"images/t2/123/business-ethics-without-stakeholders.jpg\";s:9:\"permalink\";s:36:\"business-ethics-without-stakeholders\";s:5:\"pages\";s:2:\"26\";s:6:\"rating\";s:1:\"0\";s:5:\"voter\";s:1:\"0\";}i:5;O:8:\"stdClass\":13:{s:2:\"id\";s:5:\"12261\";s:6:\"status\";s:8:\"verified\";s:11:\"author_name\";s:7:\"samanta\";s:9:\"author_id\";s:4:\"1916\";s:14:\"author_website\";s:0:\"\";s:5:\"title\";s:32:\"Emerging Business Ethics Issues\";s:11:\"description\";s:868:\"To make an ethical decision, a person must recognize that there is an ethical situation at hand. So the first step in understanding business ethics is to create ethical issues awareness. Gender, race, culture, characteristics of a job can create ethical issues within a business. What is an ethical issue? An ethical issue is a situation or problem that requires thought from an individual or organization, maybe even an opportunity that needs thought, or an investigation to make a decision on whether the issue is right or wrong. The phrase that regards to business ethics is \"deceitful purposes.\" And that consists of trickery, misrepresentation, or the intent to lead others to believe one truth but not of its entirety. The National Business Ethics Survey suggests that the leading ethical issue since 2000 is abusive or intimidating behavior toward employees.\";s:5:\"thumb\";s:48:\"images/t/123/emerging-business-ethics-issues.jpg\";s:6:\"thumb2\";s:49:\"images/t2/123/emerging-business-ethics-issues.jpg\";s:9:\"permalink\";s:31:\"emerging-business-ethics-issues\";s:5:\"pages\";s:1:\"4\";s:6:\"rating\";s:1:\"5\";s:5:\"voter\";s:1:\"1\";}i:6;O:8:\"stdClass\":13:{s:2:\"id\";s:5:\"12262\";s:6:\"status\";s:8:\"verified\";s:11:\"author_name\";s:7:\"samanta\";s:9:\"author_id\";s:4:\"1916\";s:14:\"author_website\";s:0:\"\";s:5:\"title\";s:34:\"Botwinick Prize in Business Ethics\";s:11:\"description\";s:1294:\"It is both a privilege and a pleasure to be here at Columbia. A privilege because you are one of the world\'s great academic institutions. A pleasure, because over the years your alumni have been a fertile source of management talent for Unilever. Some of them are present today - notably Charles Strauss who, until 2003, was a Director of our company. It is also a particular honour to accept the Botwinick Prize for Business Ethics for 2007. When I look at the list of previous recipients of this award, I feel even more proud. Indeed I can\'t let the occasion pass without taking the opportunity to pay a tribute to one of those recipients - Dame Anita Roddick - who, as you know, very sadly died last month at the age of only 64. Though I never met Anita, she was a source of enormous inspiration to many people in all walks of life. That was one of her great achievements - she transcended the worlds of business, politics and environmental activism. She showed us the true meaning - and the power - of working together in partnership. Anita Roddick was, of course, a woman of great vision. But she understood that vision by itself was not enough - that to be successful in business, while simultaneously helping to tackle deep- seated social problems, required actions to match words.\";s:5:\"thumb\";s:51:\"images/t/123/botwinick-prize-in-business-ethics.jpg\";s:6:\"thumb2\";s:52:\"images/t2/123/botwinick-prize-in-business-ethics.jpg\";s:9:\"permalink\";s:34:\"botwinick-prize-in-business-ethics\";s:5:\"pages\";s:1:\"7\";s:6:\"rating\";s:1:\"0\";s:5:\"voter\";s:1:\"0\";}i:7;O:8:\"stdClass\":13:{s:2:\"id\";s:5:\"13254\";s:6:\"status\";s:8:\"verified\";s:11:\"author_name\";s:7:\"samanta\";s:9:\"author_id\";s:4:\"1916\";s:14:\"author_website\";s:0:\"\";s:5:\"title\";s:63:\"REGULATION, COMPLIANCE & BUSINESS ETHICS TRAINING SOLUTIONS\";s:11:\"description\";s:621:\"Each course covers different territory from an overview of key legislation, regulation, compliance, risk management and business ethics; for new or soon to be responsible managers and executives.
