Is religion really a fact of life? It might have been one in the past, but does it still remain so in the world of today when science has changed the whole course of life, and when there is no place in it for anything save science and what scientific facts approve of? Does religion represent a genuine need of humanity? Or is it something wholly dependent upon the temperamental constitution of an individual so that one may not believe in it as there is no difference between the two states of belief and unbelief \'? Talking about Islam they betray a similar state of intellectual crisis when the missionaries of Islam tell them that Islam is not a mere creed, nor does it represent simply an edification of souls, or a refinement and training of human virtues but is rather a harmonious whole that also includes a just economic system, a well-balanced social organization, codes of civil, criminal as well as international law, & philosophical outlook upon life along with a system of physical instruction, all of these flowing from the same fundamental creed of Islam and its moral and spiritual temperament. When they hear all this, these "educated" people are greatly perplexed, for they supposed that Islam had since long ceased to exist as it has become outmoded and had exhausted all its usefulness. That is why they are surprised when they hear devout Muslims saying that Islam does not belong to a remote past, it is not obsolete or antiquated but is a living and flourishing system of life even at the present moment, as it holds within itself such elements of life as no other system known to humanity does including socialism as well as communism or any other system.\";s:5:\"thumb\";s:49:\"images/t/363/islam-the-misunderstood-religion.jpg\";s:6:\"thumb2\";s:50:\"images/t2/363/islam-the-misunderstood-religion.jpg\";s:9:\"permalink\";s:32:\"islam-the-misunderstood-religion\";s:5:\"pages\";s:1:\"0\";s:6:\"rating\";s:1:\"0\";s:5:\"voter\";s:1:\"0\";}i:2;O:8:\"stdClass\":13:{s:2:\"id\";s:5:\"39230\";s:6:\"status\";s:8:\"verified\";s:11:\"author_name\";s:6:\"benito\";s:9:\"author_id\";s:1:\"0\";s:14:\"author_website\";s:0:\"\";s:5:\"title\";s:50:\"KEY UNITED STATES SUPREME COURT RELIGION DECISIONS\";s:11:\"description\";s:1816:\"The framers of the United States Constitution wisely foresaw the potential danger of governmental interference with the freedoms of the American people. Therefore, in order to limit the federal government\'s power, they added the Bill of Rights to the original Constitution. These basic rights included, among others, the freedoms enunciated in the First Amendment: religion, speech, press, and assembly. It was natural to include religion among these rights. The framers understood it to be such an indispensable freedom that, in the words of James Madison, "[t]here is not a shadow of right in the general [federal] government to intermeddle with religion."1 Madison insisted that "[t]his subject is, for the honor of America, perfectly free and unshackled. The government has no jurisdiction over it."2 It was recognized early in the history of the United States that if religious liberty were impaired, civil liberties would also suffer. This recognition is based on the unity and mutual dependence of basic First Amendment rights. The renowned 19th century jurist James Kent remarked: The free exercise and enjoyment of religious profession and worship may be considered as one of the absolute rights of individuals, recognized in our ... law. Civil and religious liberty generally go hand in hand, and the suppression of either one of them, for any length of time, will terminate the existence of the other.3 More recently, historian Roland Bainton has observed: [A]ll freedoms hang together. Civil liberties scarcely thrive when religious liberties are disregarded, and the reverse is equally true. Beneath them all is a philosophy of liberty which assumes a measure of variety in human behavior, honors integrity, respects the dignity of man, and seeks to exemplify the compassion of God.4\";s:5:\"thumb\";s:67:\"images/t/393/key-united-states-supreme-court-religion-decisions.jpg\";s:6:\"thumb2\";s:68:\"images/t2/393/key-united-states-supreme-court-religion-decisions.jpg\";s:9:\"permalink\";s:50:\"key-united-states-supreme-court-religion-decisions\";s:5:\"pages\";s:2:\"39\";s:6:\"rating\";s:1:\"0\";s:5:\"voter\";s:1:\"0\";}i:3;O:8:\"stdClass\":13:{s:2:\"id\";s:5:\"43080\";s:6:\"status\";s:8:\"verified\";s:11:\"author_name\";s:4:\"erin\";s:9:\"author_id\";s:1:\"0\";s:14:\"author_website\";s:0:\"\";s:5:\"title\";s:39:\"Islam : Aesthetics of a Mystic Religion\";s:11:\"description\";s:529:\"Islam is much more than a formal religion: it is an integral way of life. From ongoing discrimination against and abuse of religious minority the Ahmadiyya, to the discriminatory 1965 Blasphemy Law, the question of freedom of religion has dominated public discourse. The Republic of Indonesia now faces a critical period, one in which the people and the government must determine whether this constitutionally guaranteed freedom is worth the paper it\'s printed on.\";s:5:\"thumb\";s:83:\"images/t/745/freedom-of-religion-in-indonesia-multiple-choices-not-short-answer.jpg\";s:6:\"thumb2\";s:84:\"images/t2/745/freedom-of-religion-in-indonesia-multiple-choices-not-short-answer.jpg\";s:9:\"permalink\";s:66:\"freedom-of-religion-in-indonesia-multiple-choices-not-short-answer\";s:5:\"pages\";s:2:\"16\";s:6:\"rating\";s:1:\"0\";s:5:\"voter\";s:1:\"0\";}i:7;O:8:\"stdClass\":13:{s:2:\"id\";s:5:\"94063\";s:6:\"status\";s:8:\"verified\";s:11:\"author_name\";s:6:\"titina\";s:9:\"author_id\";s:1:\"0\";s:14:\"author_website\";s:0:\"\";s:5:\"title\";s:61:\"Marxism: A Religion Profile from International Students, Inc.\";s:11:\"description\";s:431:\"Marxist ideology draws its inspiration from the writings of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. This carefully researched book provides the first synthetic and contextualized study of German Orientalistik, a subject of special interest because German scholars were the pacesetters in oriental studies between about 1830 and 1930, despite entering the colonial race late and exiting it early. The book suggests that we must take seriously German orientalism\'s origins in Renaissance philology and early modern biblical exegesis and appreciate its modern development in the context of nineteenth- and early twentieth-century debates about religion and the Bible, classical schooling, and Germanic origins. In ranging across the subdisciplines of Orientalistik, German Orientalism in the Age of Empire introduces readers to a host of iconoclastic characters and forgotten debates, seeking to demonstrate both the richness of this intriguing field and its indebtedness to the cultural world in which it evolved.\";s:5:\"thumb\";s:86:\"images/t/952/german-orientalism-in-the-age-of-empire-religion-race-and-scholarship.jpg\";s:6:\"thumb2\";s:87:\"images/t2/952/german-orientalism-in-the-age-of-empire-religion-race-and-scholarship.jpg\";s:9:\"permalink\";s:69:\"german-orientalism-in-the-age-of-empire-religion-race-and-scholarship\";s:5:\"pages\";s:2:\"29\";s:6:\"rating\";s:1:\"0\";s:5:\"voter\";s:1:\"0\";}i:9;O:8:\"stdClass\":13:{s:2:\"id\";s:5:\"98924\";s:6:\"status\";s:8:\"verified\";s:11:\"author_name\";s:7:\"matthew\";s:9:\"author_id\";s:1:\"0\";s:14:\"author_website\";s:0:\"\";s:5:\"title\";s:27:\"Bad Religion - Maps of Hell\";s:11:\"description\";s:28:\"Bad Religion - Maps of Hell \";s:5:\"thumb\";s:70:\"data/thumb/Bad-Religion-Maps-of-Hell-Presentation-Transcript-12020.jpg\";s:6:\"thumb2\";s:71:\"data/thumb2/Bad-Religion-Maps-of-Hell-Presentation-Transcript-12020.jpg\";s:9:\"permalink\";s:25:\"bad-religion-maps-of-hell\";s:5:\"pages\";s:2:\"13\";s:6:\"rating\";s:1:\"0\";s:5:\"voter\";s:1:\"0\";}}', `cache_on` = '2015-02-28 15:50:25' WHERE `aff_id` = '1261278'
