Top 10 Rio de Janeiro (Eyewitness Top 10 Travel Guides)

Customer Reviews:

Another fine Top Ten offering from DK

By N. Hawkins "whereishawkins" - June 17, 2009

I travel a lot, and it's important for me to find what books work and what doesn't. Typically if I want to "check out" a place before I go somewhere or consider going there, I'll buy the DK Top Ten books. If you want a high level overview, this is the book to get. It's got enough information to be succinct on what to do see, what to do and what to experience while you're there. In an upcoming 5 day trip to Rio, I wanted to see what I should be seeing, what are the landmarks are and what's important. But when I started to book and do research, I needed another book.

Naturally, this book isn't something I'd use solely for traveling. To me, this book is meant as a quick reference guide, whereas another more expensive travel book would be the definitive resource.

I honestly believe you can't go wrong with DK Top 10 books. It's a good quick reference book that is at home in a cargo pants pocket.

Rio de Janerio Guide

By Bill A. Belt - January 2, 2010

If you are looking for a small easy to carry guide about Rio de Janeiro, then this Eyewitness guide is the one. Maps in color, lots of pictures and well written and up to date. We like the quality of Eyewitness guides which don't have dated material in the books like hotel prices, etc. This book will be up to date for years.Just drop a copy into your pocket or purse and it will make touring Rio a much more memorable trip.

Our favorite Rio guidebook despite initial doubts

By Duncan - December 26, 2010

I've liked the Top 10 guides before, but I always worry that they gloss over too much and don't have enough detail, especially for more than a short stay. In this case, however, the Top 10 was the perfect scope for a weeklong trip to Rio. I also had two other guidebooks to Rio, and found them either too detailed or without adequate prioritization to choose amongst options. The included maps were a useful bonus. I strongly recommend this guidebook. If you buy only one for a trip to Rio, this should be it.
