Stop what you're doing and buy this book: 1,001 Foods You Must Taste Before you Die. Why? The simple answer is that it's an amazing book that will enlighten you to 1,001 (mostly kosher) foods that you've probably never heard of or considered, including a bevy of baked goods and grains that are, yes, you guessed it, gluten free!

I was handed this book while spending a Shabbat in Neve Daniel this past week, and the mastermind behind Chocoholique Liqueur opened my eyes to something he probably wasn't planning on: baked goods that are traditionally gluten-free, like Injera and Crumpets.

Injera is a "yeast-risen flatbread with a unique, slightly spongy texture. Traditionally made out of teff flour and is a national dish in Ethiopia and Eritrea. A similar variant is eaten in Somalia (where it is called canjeero or lahooh) and Yemen (where it is known as lahoh)." Must have for cook's library

I first purchased this book as a wedding gift for my niece (the young couple had suggested family and friends give them gifts of cook books). I was so happy with my purchase I had to have one for myself. It is a beautiful book which is enjoyable as a coffee table book (while not being huge) and is invaluable when you want to know what a food looks like, how it can be used and what it tastes like.
