Since I first heard of the Dead Sea Scrolls as a teenager, I have had a fascination with them. The `Holman QuickSource Guide to the Dead Sea Scrolls' by Craig A. Evans is a quick reference to all things Dead Sea Scrolls.

What appears at first to be a light introduction to the Dead Sea Scrolls ends up, in fact, to be a remarkable combination of breadth, depth, and accessibility. I would highly recommend this not only to people seeking an introduction to the DSS, but also to anyone seeking a deeper understanding of First Century Judaism and Early Christianity.

In reality, they aren't that mysterious, one just has to do some basic study. This volume is a perfect place to start and is fairly detailed for an intro.
