This is a nice collection of the tranlated lauds of Jacopone da Todi, a Franciscan Friar. What is interesting about this corpus is that one can approach the work of da Todi from that of a historical perspective relating the lauds to a historical analysis of either the social setting or the history of the Church - and more specifically, the Franciscan Order - or one can look at the lauds as a literary work of inspired prose.
In either case, this is a reasonably priced and a significant work that is nice to have on the bookshelf. I recommend it highly.
