GREAT for pre-marital counseling

My husband and I each had our own book and would go throught the chapters seperately. This helped when we got together with our pastor every week, because our answers were honest. I felt this book helped us think about the expectations we each had for different aspects of marriage. Ex: who does the housework? how much do you spend a month on food? what type of debt do you bring into the marriage? how often do you expect to have sex? It also encouraged us to discuss issues from our pasts that we didn't believe to be relevant, but would have affected our marriage down the road. We really enjoyed this book, but as with any pre-marital counseling book the key is an AWESOME pastor.
Highly Recommended Preparation for engaged or pre-engaged

This is a hands-on tool that will help you to explore your relationship and find God's plan for marriage. It also fleshes out the topics that are ESSENTIAL in any premarital counseling. My wife and I have a stronger relationship as a result of this book.
Great appetizer, but missing the meat and potatoes
By Stanley M Laskos - April 4, 2011After finishing this book I was a little dissatisfied. We bought this book after a pre-marriage retreat and read it over the next several weeks.
Let me begin with what I liked. It was very spiritual and outlined how an ideal spiritual Christian marriage should look like. It gave a good starting point for a young, newly engaged Christian couple to begin from.
That was also one of the books downfalls. While it was spiritual, it gave very little insight into practical Earthly matters. It was not even till near the end of the book that even money was discussed. While the author did note that one of the biggest downfalls of marriages arises from disagreements about money, they gave little practical application. He spoke of being a good steward with God's gifts, but not really how to carry that out. The budget worksheet was only introduced with two sentences and four bullet points, hardly sufficient in my mind.
