Make the 2's less Terrible
By E. Ortega - March 21, 2012Raising kids isn't getting any easier. There is a slew of advice books out there all giving conflicting advice. I love this book because it's sensible, compassionate, takes kids seriously, and offers advice that just "feels" right. It was recommended to us by friends whose parenting style we liked and we have learned immensely from it. Toddlers are so much smarter than we assume and the authors of this book totally understand that. I don't write a lot of reviews, but my wife and I were talking about it the other night and decided we should spread the word on this book. If you're like us and you struggle with how to handle the constantly changing behavior of your toddler, check out this book. It covers everything from discipline to feeding to sleeping. The book advocates respecting your toddler ability to listen and grow as an independent person - I've learned how important that is and I'm a much better parent for it.
Excellent Resource
By Nicole C. - March 16, 2012This is an incredible book. As a mother of a very strong-willed, intelligent 2 year old, we have relied heavily on the teachings of this book. It is amazing to me to see the difference in my daughter's response - physical, verbal, facial - when I speak in the way that this book promotes. By validating her feelings and understanding her frustrations she is able to also listen to me and we can have a very practical problem solving interaction. The teaching in this book not only empower parents in dealing with their toddler, but it empowers the toddler in a truly amazing, simple, logical way that I had never been introduced to prior to this book. It is an absolute must read for any parent - it's quick, insightful and fun.
A Great Guide!
By Brenna H. - February 24, 2012This is an amazing and simple reference book for anyone in a toddler's life! I love the way it is set up. It is so easy to use when I want to look up something specific, like tantrums or play time, and also a great read cover to cover. I really enjoyed reading the short and varied personal family stories around each topic as it gives a very raw feeling to the information as well as helping me to know that I'm not alone in my joys and struggles with the toddlers in my life. I really enjoyed the updated version with it's new pictures and simple healthy recipes! I highly recommend this to any new parents, caregivers, or family members of toddlers!
