Seaboard Coast Line Family Lines Railroad 1967-1986: A CSX Predecessor

Good history of the SCL

I bought this book looking for a history of the SCL and photos of the railroad in action. On the history side of things, this book is excellent. It explains the first movement towards merger in the 50s and also provides a nice summation of the Seaboard System railroad.

However, I was disappointed at how Virginia and North Carolina centric this book was. Even though there are hundreds of miles of SCL tracks in Georgia, Alabama, and even Florida, photos and descriptions of their routes through those states are almost completely absent. Even Atlanta, which served as a major hub for some of the most important SCL/Family Lines routes is completely ignored. Augusta receives no attention, nor does South Carolina outside of a few photos from the Greenville/Spartanburg area and a couple photos from the coastal region.
