This is the perfect follow-up to Mattu and Brady's first EKG book, and a must read for those who really want to fine-tune their EKG skills.
As with the first volume, this one contains hundreds of unknown EKG's and a one-line clinical vignette. Once you have made your reading, you check the correct answer at the end of the section, which also includes teaching points.
Neither of these books would be for someone new to reading EKG's - they are too demanding. But, for those wishing to be as good as you can be, go through these two volumes.
Then do it again!
This is an excellent book- There are several attributes that make this book ideal for the EM physician who is learning EKG's:
1.) Cases are quick and short, so if you only have 10-15 min you can get valuable info during that time.
2.) It starts easy and gets harder which is ideal.
3.) You see multiple variations of the same thing with thorough explanations each time.
I went through the 1st section with about 30 min 3x a week in one month and felt more comfortable reading EKG's than some of my senior colleagues.
If you want to be challenged, this is the book for you. All of Mattu's ECG books humble me. I recommend this one to our residents.
