Customer Reviews:

A behind-the-scenes look at one family's donor insemination story

By Beth Cholette "doctor_beth" - August 15, 2010

From the time she was a young girl, author Cheryl Shuler always wanted children. Although she is aware of the option of donor insemination, she is hesitant to give up on her dream of the traditional path: marriage and children. But when yet another long-term relationship fails to reach the altar, Shuler gives herself the deadline of age 38: if she is not in a relationship at that time, she will pursue the donor insemination route. And that is exactly what happens. After much agonizing over donor profiles, Shuler finally chooses several viable candidates, and she is thrilled when she becomes pregnant as a result of the third insemination procedure. Nine months later, Shuler gives birth to a son, Gavin.
