Banish Bad Habits
Written by clinical child psychologist Dawn Huebner, Ph.D., What to Do When Bad Habits Take Hold is a handy, softcover consumable book with black-and-white illustrations designed to help young people ages six to twelve overcome hard-to-stop habits like nail biting, thumb sucking, hair twirling, scab picking, and shirt chewing. I enjoyed the 3 books I purchased in this series. It provided a common vocabulary for my son and I and enabled him to realize he is not alone in his worries. PS - I'm a psychologist and professor and recommend this series a lot.
I have bought a few of these books by Dawn Huebner and I love them. They are really great at helping me as a parent help my kids work thru whatever we need to deal with right now. They are written in such a way that you can go thru the books together chapter-by-chapter and talk about things at each step. In this book, the focus starts with why we have bad habits and goes on to strategies on how to help your child get over them. Very helpful and highly recommended
