Solid book, but you may just want to get the previous edition, which is much cheaper
By m00001 - September 8, 2009This is a solid book, and I highly recommend it. I've had 150 students pass the exam using both this book, and the previous edition of the book:
IC3 BASICS: Internet and Computing Core Certification.
But for nearly $100 for the new version, I would recommend that a cost-conscience buyer to purchase the previous edition (IC3 BASICS: Internet and Computing Core Certification) which sells for around $15-$25 used on Amazon. Why? Because the old version has 98% of the information students need to pass the exam, so why pay a huge premium for that extra 2%? You can easily supplement the previous version with free information readily available on the Internet, and save yourself $75.
Either way, the new version or the old, you can't go wrong.
Excellent for beginners

It covers basic computer software and hardware concepts, basic applications, such as MS Word and MS Excel, as well as basic internet concepts and applications. It doesn't assume the reader has any prior computer knowledge. It starts at the beginning and teaches everything the average person needs to know.
