Great writer, crappy editor.

Brumfield - January 11, 2011Like all 3 in the series, the writing is great and Sweeney is far better informed and far less arrogant than most gun writers...but gone are the days of careful editing I guess. One of my other volumes actually has the page numbers wrong for the chapters in the table of contents, but all 3 are fraught with errors. Still a great book for the AR enthusiast, especially if you have some interest in piston systems, or what the real skinny on various magazines and other parts and accessories.
1 and 2 are much better

Instead of making this volume 3, this could have been given its own title of THE PISTON AR-15, since that is THE main focus of this book. If you don't have an interest in, or own, a piston AR, stick with the first two books of the series.
It's not what i expected
By rifleman - January 26, 2011Amazon's service gets 5 stars, but I was disappointed in the book. If you are intrested in piston driven AR-15's this is your book, I mainly bought the book because I have the other 2 volumes and the author was doing a review on CMMG rifles, but again it was on piston driven AR's. The book is well written, and I am glad I bought it, but its just not what I am intrested in.
