Great book but too advanced for 3rd grade

I purchased this book for my homeschooled daughter. At the time I purchased it, she was halfway through a fairly rigorous 3rd-grade language arts program (Easy Grammar 3). I think that this book is too challenging for a typical 3rd grader. For example, most students just beginning 3rd grade haven't learned the rule that titles of movies are underlined and chapters of books are put in quotes, yet this book expects them to know and apply these rules in the first week. One could use this book as a teaching resource and sit down with your child, going over the editing together and explaining each rule. However, this would not be a very thorough stand-alone language arts program. If you are wanting to use this type of book as reinforcement that your child can work on independently with occasional help and correction, I would recommend going down one grade level. Used grades 2, 4 and 6 and they worked wonderfully

I used this book series for 4 children all different grade levels. Although we had done grammar and language books before, their tests scores needed improved. Use of this book was a key factor in improving scores in the language and usage section of the IOWA for each child. It also reduce the stress of the standardized test because they were more familiar with finding the errors. I highly recommend the book series. The skills taught/reviewed directly translate to improving the writing/editing process.
