nice, but not for 2.8L VR6

Handy VW manual!
By B. Posner - March 24, 2005I've owned several different types of car manuals over the years, and although this is not the most technical, it has very useful information. I would say it is a MUST for anybody doing simple mechanic work like brake pads, fluid changes, etc. It even helps with more complex tasks like clutch plates and suspension work. For the price, I would definitely recommend it. Easy to read with LOTS of pictures.
Does not replace the full service manual
By CMH - December 7, 2010I have both this book and volkswagen's service manual. If you do regular, simple maintance only, this book will suffice. If you change timing belts, serpentine/accessory belts, or more advanced work ... it will not be enough. You should buy the service manual as well. However, notice that I said "as well". It is far easier to find information quickly with the Chilton book than the service manual. But, if you need detailed drawings and explanations on how to do something, you will need the service manual. So, I use both in my garage.
