By Tom E. Gunn - July 2, 2011The Haynes and Chilton manuals which are both published by Haynes and share the same author are basically identical. They contain the same photos and the same lame information. I've bought these manuals for every car I've owned simply because they are about the only option available. I've always found them to be frustratingly vague and rarely helpful. They are generally useless except for the most basic information.
This particular manual and it's Chilton version are particularly vexing, because you don't discover until after you've purchased the manuals that they do not include information specific to All Wheel Drive models. So if you're doing anything with the transfer case, front differential or front drive axles you are simply out of luck.
Haynes Manual's
By Robert Tasa - June 12, 2011So far these manuals are awful. I have three of them. Each one avoids giving and advice or hints on how to get a job done. Example changing the Spark Plugs on my Astro Van. It states remove them. HOW? After several internet searches you figure out that you have to take a wheel off or go from below from a lift (all of which they don't include). I call that useless since plugs are basic maintenance items.
