Game-based learning: An Overview
Effectiveness on Development of Logical Thinking Skills of Problem Based Learning Skills in Science Teaching
I'm going to start using this learning approach in my classes in a few weeks, and I bought this book to provide me with the basic tools. The cover says, "A Guide to Using Small Groups for Improving Learning." What's here is good, but the problem is that many of the specific examples are only citations to the older book: Team-Based Learning: A Transformative Use of Small Groups in College Teaching.
I feel short-changed.
This book was designed to be a fundamental book for those who teach in the health professions and are interested in Team Based Learning. It gives a very complete overview of the process as well as examples from multiple health science courses. I use it as a textbook in one of my graduate courses and students like its practicality very much.
If you've already read any of Michaelsen's other books or articles, you really don't need this one. On the other hand, if you haven't read any of the others, this one might be a bit confusing. The only reason I have this title is that the doctor-educators I work with secretly believe team-based learning won't work in medical education until they see this title on my bookshelf.
