Serves its intended purpose
By Nomad - July 12, 2009This book accomplishes what it sets out to accomplish. I completed my teaching license program in the 1990s and have not taken an education class since that time. When I decided to move to Chicago and teach I needed to refresh my memory on the educational theories. I purchased the book about two months before I took the test and designed a schedule around the content in the book. I would read small sections, take notes in a notebook and supplement these notes with my thoughts and reflections on my previous teaching experiences. I never spent more than 45 minutes per day and did not have any other resource other than this study guide. I am happy to say that I received my scores a few days ago. I easily exceeded the minimum score necessary. Thus, I am satisfied with this study guide.

Don't waste your money on this product.
By MAS "maryspy" - February 22, 2013I wish I could give this product zero stars. This product is full of spelling and grammatical errors, and doesn't provide much information. The author(s) have taken the Test Objectives from the ICTS Study Guide and copied them into the book, which makes sense. They do not, however, expand on each of the test objectives. Sometimes they reword the test objectives without providing and additional details. (For example, they will refer to Bloom's Taxonomy or Gardner's multiple intelligences, but then not provide a list with a short description.) Other times, completely unrelated information appears under a test objective.
Parts of this book were obviously cut and pasted from another book. For example, in one section they refer to the Board of Regents which does not exist in the State of Illinois, but does exist in the State of New York. Other parts seem to have been written in another language and then translated directly into English. The practice test was poorly written as... read more
