\ntreated with both pectolase and antioxidants and the control were unacceptable. The most preferred wine was that treated with pectolase which
\naccounted for the highest ratings among taste panelists for colour, clarity, flavour and aroma, while the wine treated with both pectolase and
\nantioxidants was least preferred. During the second month of ageing all wines were found to be stable as only very negligible changes were detected

\nresponse sequences suggest that d-amphetamine produced decrements in repeat performance by
\ndecreasing discriminative control within response sequences, whereas ethanol decreased repeat

\nconducted to determine the effects of guava (Psidium guajava) consumption on
\ntotal antioxidant status and lipid profile (total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL-
\ncholesterol and HDL-cholesterol) in normal male youth. This study was carried
\nout over nine weeks, which was divided into three phases, that is, baseline (one
\nweek), treatment (four weeks) and control (four weeks). Blood samples were
\ncollected at the end of each phase for biochemical test. Total antioxidant status,
\nglucose, lipid profile and antioxidant enzymes (glutathione peroxidase and
\nglutathione reductase) were determined using Cobas Mira auto analyzer (Roche).
\nDietary intake in each phase was studied using 24-hours diet recall. There was a
\nsignificant increase of total cholesterol, triglyceride and HDL-cholesterol during
\nthe treatment phase, compared to the baseline and control phases (p < 0.05). The
\nincrease of HDL-cholesterol was associated with the decreased risk of heart attack
\nand cardiovascular disease. Although there was an increase in total cholesterol
\nand triglyceride in the treatment phase compared to baseline and control phases,
\nthe increase was still in normal range. There was a significant increase of total
\nantioxidants during the treatment phase, compared to the baseline and control
\nphases (p < 0.05). There were trends of reduction for both glutathione peroxidase
\nand glutathione reductase in the treatment phase as compared to baseline and
\ncontrol phases. However, the reduction was not statistically significant. The
\nreduction of antioxidant enzymes was associated with decreased oxidative stress
\nand decrease in free radical activities. The consumption of guava, therefore, could
\nresult in improved antioxidant status and lipid profile. Thus, it could reduce the
