Many great ideas for enhancing executive skills in the classroom

Kohutek, Ph.D." - September 26, 2010This book provides a plethora of information on what should be the next big push in education-- enhancing the executive skills of our students. Dr. Kaufman gives a variety of suggestions which should assist all classroom teachers in connecting with and helping their students stay connected with the lesson. This is a very readable book with a chapter describing seven general strategies for developing executive functioning in the class. The next three chapters describe specific ways executive functioning interferes with the academic topics of reading, writing and mathematics.
A must read for the 21st century educator!

Great for Parents of Kids with Executive Dysfunction

None explained how my child could score in the 98% in perceptual reasoning/math abilities on IQ testing and still struggle in a math classroom. This book is an invaluable look at how your very bright but dysexecutive child may srtuggle in school and what you can do to explain or "de-mystify" what is going on for him and for you! A must buy for parents who are struggling to understand what executive dysfunction is and how your child suffers in "Traditional" classrooms and what to do to help her/him.
