Good Review for APUSH

This was such a great product!!! It included everything in the AP exam, and more too. (However, you can't just use this to study for the exam, you should use AMSCO or a Kaplan review book). The cards were all in chronological order even in the color coded eras. The only problem I had with it was that sometimes the cards would get out of order, and they had no numbers so that I could put it back in order. Also, I wished the cards were a little bigger.

If you are taking APUSH, and plan on taking the AP exam, GET THIS! I took the exam in 2007 and got a 5 and an A in the class. I borrowed these from a friend to refresh my memory so that I could take the US history SAT Subject test.

This stack of 600 cards was absolutely amazing. It brought the whole class back to me (which I had almost completely forgotten) in a week. So, if your near the end of your history class, this would be a GREAT tool to not only bring up all that colonial info you forgot about, but also help you make your understanding of anything you didn't quite understand in the class concrete.

I teach AP US History, and as a teacher, I've been trained to be a bit skeptical about rote, 'drill and kill' learning strategies, but, on the other hand, I believe in results. I have found that flashcards are a useful study tool, and perhaps most importantly, they seem to be most effective for students who are struggling to pass the APUSH exam with a 3. In many cases, it is my opinion that the bright students who easily score 5s can do so with a standard textbook and a mediocre study guide - and either no teacher or a poor teacher. The challenge comes with students who are not the academically gifted ones - the students who are challenging themselves by enrolling in an Advanced Placement class. These are precisely the kind of students who need help and can benefit the most from flashcards. I have seen several students who I expected to earn 2s earn 3s and even 4s after using flashcards. I have even had several surprising 5s from students who I expected to earn 3s or 4s.
