Not sure I would recommend this one ...
By Katie D. Hinshaw - March 20, 2010I have taken all my college coursework required to take the certification test (ESL 154). I bought this study guide to help me prepare for the questions I might encounter on the test. As I am reading through the research before beginning the sample test, I am a bit mystified by the numerous grammatical and punctuational errors throughout the book. I also noticed that the author is from Southern Connecticut State University - why isn't there an author from Texas? Anyway, it is a first edition and claims that 1,500 teachers have reviewed the book for its content. The content seems to match my coursework so far ... just a little frustrated at the typos. The bibliography is also limited to a few references. There are others cited in the text but not in the references. I wanted to check out a few and don't have any clue where it came from. Oh well. Hopefully, the book will help me.

ELL Test Workbook
By Kimberly McGuire - April 21, 2012Study Guide does have some typos as other reviewers noted, but most of them look like they are from a formatting error rather than a lazy author. The guide does a good job of reviewing key concepts, but you need to make sure to review IPA, ELL legislation (1974-present), and leading researchers/theorists as they are on the exam as well. The sample test that can be purchased covers these - but you still need to be familiar with them before you take the test.
