The Simplicity Of Dementia: A Guide For Family And Carers

Customer Reviews:

Eye-opening!

By Watanabe Poemi "Poemi-chan" - September 6, 2011

I started working with the elderly for the first time recently. I found that a significant number of them suffered from dementia. Reading this book gave me a lot of information about the symptoms of dementia. This book allowed me to understand what are the normal behaviors of someone with dementia, as well as what the person with dementia may be experiencing as they grapple with this ailment, as it progresses. The author presents you with "thought experiments" that put you into the shoes of the person with dementia, eliciting sympathetic feelings that give you a more positive view of the person and encourage you to be more supportive towards the person. You are given examples of situations that others have experienced, which you may be able to relate to yourself. You are also given techniques on how to approach the various symptoms the person with dementia is exhibiting, as well as how to cope with the thoughts and feelings you yourself may be experiencing in response. The Simplicity of Dementia

By Paula Frighetti - August 3, 2009

This book was very informative for me and my family. We were able to understand better what our Mom is going through. I recommend it to anyone who has a friend or relative with dementia.

Outstanding!

By Shelley Harman - March 28, 2013

I would highly recommend this book for anyone questioning their own symptoms or those of a family member. I thought it was very informative. Clear and easy to read & understand. My mother-in-law lives with me so I am the primary care-giver; this book gave me MUCH needed information on symptoms, where to go for diagnosis & insight into "oh, that's why she does that". I also recommended it to my sister-in-law so she may be more aware of what I'm doing & why. Excellent book! Thank you
