Really poor book - focuses on opinion and not fact
By Andy Hayes - December 18, 2010I was really disappointed with this book, it focuses on the authors own opinion about electric cars and skips the facts. Worse, some of the points that are claimed as fact are actually wrong. Not just the specification or abilities of some of the cars that are included, but the vehicle classifications and, far worse, the environmental argument where the author just simply has not done his research and produced some 'facts' that are so wrong, they're absolutely unacceptable.
I've been following the electric vehicle scene for a few years and bought myself a GEM electric vehicle a year ago for short journeys. I bought this book because it seemed to provide all the information about the latest electric cars and the technology and I was interested in learning about what is new. I should not have wasted my money.

Very useful
By Rebja - January 19, 2011I've been curious about electric cars for a while and this book came just in time. Everyone's talking about green cars and now I'll be able to chip in with some facts. There's a nice short catalogue of cars that are apparently soon available for sale and I must agree with the author - some of them look weird. After reading this book I was surprised that so many unsafe vehicles are sold to the customers. And that there are loopholes that make it possible to legalize vehicles that shouldn't be driven on streets.
I take it from the annotation that the author comes from car engineering background and it's interesting to get his opinion from the insider's point of view. Though I didn't feel overwhelmed with too much technicalities and I should say the book is quite reader-friendly which is not always the case with such a technical subject.
