    \nfreezing where loss was lowest. A slight decrease in total sugar content with the increase of freezing time
    \nwas observed in all pod age stages. All the nutrients gradually decreased among the genotypes and pod age
    \nstages due to freezing. Ascorbic acid content sharply decreased at 20 days after freezing condition but after
    \n40 and 60 days freezing ascorbic acid decreased at lower rate, other nutrients slightly decreased in all

    \nhigher in 20 days pod age for all genotypes. Dry matter retention was found 86.26 to 97.67%, 82.90 to
    \n94.62% and 82.83 to 93.27% among genotypes when blanched at 5, 10 and 15 minutes respectively. But
    \ntotal sugar content retention was observed 79.94 to 160.80%, 91.11 to 165.60% and 98.45 to 169.28% at 5,
    \n10 and 15 minute after blanching respectively. The highest increasing sugar content was observed in V4 at

    \nlagoon across a 2 km wide land strip were monitored from October, 2005 to September, 2006.
    \nWater samples were collected from 15 dug wells and 20 piezometers, from the disturbed and
    \nundisturbed sites respectively to evaluate the temporal and spatial trends in water quality.
    \nThe EC values observed from the undisturbed area showed a significant decrease (3000 to 1200
    \nµS/cm) with the rain from November 2005 to March 2006, while the values in the disturbed area
    \nappeared to have stabilized without further decline through the same period. The concentration
    \nrange of EC, Ca, K, Na, alkalinity, total hardness and sulphate were higher in the disturbed site than
    \nin the undisturbed site. PHREEQC modeling showed that the mixed sea water fraction is higher in
    \nthe disturbed site than in the undisturbed site, and this is likely due to the movement of the
    \ndisturbed plume by water extraction through pumping and extensive well cleaning after the tsunami,
    \ncausing forced diffusion and dispersion. No arsenic contamination was observed as all observed
    \narsenic concentrations were below 10 µg/L. For the sites investigated, there are clear indications of
