Hence, the idea of discourses, those shared, structured ways of speaking, thinking, interpreting, and representing things in the world (and which have been called by other names, such as frames, speech genres, or interpretive repertoires). Dryzek describes a set of discourses used in a "politics of the earth": deliberations about environmental policies and politics. In this easily read and highly engaging book his main goal is to "advance analysis in environmental affairs by promoting critical comparative scrutiny of competing discourses of environmental concerns" (pg. 20). In the context of his extensive writings and research, Dryzek is very much concerned with how the discourses interact and can play a role in what he has referred to as ecological democracy (Dryzek 1990). From a human ecology perspective, this book is important as it helps us to understand how human actions both reflect and create the complex characteristics of human systems and ecological systems.\";s:5:\"thumb\";s:67:\"images/t/437/the-politics-of-the-earth-environmental-discourses.jpg\";s:6:\"thumb2\";s:68:\"images/t2/437/the-politics-of-the-earth-environmental-discourses.jpg\";s:9:\"permalink\";s:50:\"the-politics-of-the-earth-environmental-discourses\";s:5:\"pages\";s:1:\"5\";s:6:\"rating\";s:1:\"5\";s:5:\"voter\";s:1:\"1\";}i:4;O:8:\"stdClass\":13:{s:2:\"id\";s:6:\"122573\";s:6:\"status\";s:8:\"verified\";s:11:\"author_name\";s:9:\"sebestyen\";s:9:\"author_id\";s:1:\"0\";s:14:\"author_website\";s:0:\"\";s:5:\"title\";s:31:\"Movement Of The Earth’S Crust\";s:11:\"description\";s:228:\"\n

\ndestructive tsunami ever recorded. It causes the damage on the six provinces of the Andaman seacoast of Thailand.
\nThe degree of the damages were assessed by remote sensing of high and low resolution data with Normalised
\nDifference Vegetation Index (NDVI) levels. The impact of tsunami wave on coastal morphology at some locations
\nare exemplified. The relationship of the offshore bathymetry, coastal type, topography, configuration and landuse
\nwith the runup and tide gauge data were combined to explain the cause of different degree of the damage.
\nTHE CAUSE OF TSUNAMI The 26 December 2004 tsunami was generated by earthquake at 00:58:53 UTC
\n(07:58:53 local time at epicenter). The magnitude 9.15 earthquake near Sumatra is the largest earthquake to occur
\nsince the 1964 Alaska quake and the fourth largest in this century. The main shock ruptured at 2 km/s at the southern
\nend of the 1300 km long rupture, however, rupture may have propagated northward more slowly. The width of the
\nfault rupture is 100 km (from the focus up to the bathymetric trench along the megathrust). The average displacement
\nor slip on the fault plane was 15 meters. The thickness of the fault shear zone across the megathrust is 500 meters.
\nThe whole fault line covers 210,000 km2. A large tsunami triggered by this earthquake spread outward from off the
\nSumatran coast. This line source, which oriented nearly N-E, therefore the tsunami directivity was to E-W.\";s:5:\"thumb\";s:150:\"images/t/43/the-assessment-of-the-damage-from-indian-ocean-tsunami-on-the-coastal-morphology-of-the-andaman-seacoast-of-thailand-by-remote-sensing.jpg\";s:6:\"thumb2\";s:151:\"images/t2/43/the-assessment-of-the-damage-from-indian-ocean-tsunami-on-the-coastal-morphology-of-the-andaman-seacoast-of-thailand-by-remote-sensing.jpg\";s:9:\"permalink\";s:134:\"the-assessment-of-the-damage-from-indian-ocean-tsunami-on-the-coastal-morphology-of-the-andaman-seacoast-of-thailand-by-remote-sensing\";s:5:\"pages\";s:1:\"7\";s:6:\"rating\";s:3:\"3.5\";s:5:\"voter\";s:1:\"6\";}i:6;O:8:\"stdClass\":13:{s:2:\"id\";s:6:\"145380\";s:6:\"status\";s:8:\"verified\";s:11:\"author_name\";s:15:\"factsaboutearth\";s:9:\"author_id\";s:5:\"30124\";s:14:\"author_website\";s:0:\"\";s:5:\"title\";s:21:\"Facts about The Earth\";s:11:\"description\";s:554:\"Hi, my name is Ben Ten living in North America. Human genome contains about 42,000 gene versions.\n\nThe birth, growth, decline, and death of life is regulated by genes. Over 8000 known human diseases are related to genes. The natural healing of the wounds in animals and plants is the result of genes’ endeavor to retain their own perfect structures.\n\n The difference of chromosomes between individuals is only 0.1%. The comparison of the gene sequences of any two individuals reveals that 99.9% of the gene sequences are the same. This system provides pollution hot spot area and spread rate of the Tuticorin coastal area in Tamilnadu, India. The spread rate and hot spot analysis has been analyzed with the aid of various Chemical, Biological and Physical parameters such as pH, Temperature, Total Suspended Sediments (TSS), Salinity, Dissolved Oxygen (DO), Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), Nitrate, Nitrite, Phosphorus as Phosphate PO4, Chlorophyll-a, Silicate, primary productivity and Ammonia. The Remote Sensing data plays vital role in pollution monitoring and analysis. The Geographic Information System and Remote Sensing facilitate to scrutinize various marine pollution such Industrial pollution, sewage pollution and anthropogenic pollution. The various pollution parameters are examined with the allusion of “General Coastal Cater Quality Standard”. The preliminary investigations of pollution spots were identified on the remote sensing data (IRS P6) through the visual interpretation techniques. From the visually interpreted data the major polluted spots were identified on the ground by ground survey method. The water samples were collected from the polluted spots. The various samples had undergone with diverse laboratory analysis and readings were stored in GIS database. The various pollution parameters reading are compared with General Coastal Cater Quality Standard values in GIS environment. The various parameters Map, Hot Spot Map and Spread Rate Map are generated with the assist of Weighted Overlay Analysis and Statistical Analysis in ARC-GIS.\";s:5:\"thumb\";s:113:\"images/t/4113/mapping-and-analysis-of-marine-pollution-in-tuticorin-coastal-area-using-remote-sensing-and-gis.jpg\";s:6:\"thumb2\";s:114:\"images/t2/4113/mapping-and-analysis-of-marine-pollution-in-tuticorin-coastal-area-using-remote-sensing-and-gis.jpg\";s:9:\"permalink\";s:95:\"mapping-and-analysis-of-marine-pollution-in-tuticorin-coastal-area-using-remote-sensing-and-gis\";s:5:\"pages\";s:2:\"15\";s:6:\"rating\";s:1:\"0\";s:5:\"voter\";s:1:\"0\";}}', `cache_on` = '2015-02-27 16:09:17' WHERE `aff_id` = '1347259'
