A good general primer for Modigliani and his work

I think the best way to express what this book is, is to say what it is not. This is not a coffee table book (although it has a nice selection of illustrations). This is not a scholarly book (although the text is informative). This is not a biography (although the works are set in an artistic timeline).
If you are a lay person interested in this artist, this book will serve you well.
If you are already familiar with Modigliani and looking for artistic depth and study, this book may disappoint. For me, at times, the author's text read as more her opinion (subjective thoughts) then objective description (known facts). I wish these two lines of writing had been more clearly defined.
