A history book from the first hand
By Mohammad DAMT - May 6, 2002These 2 volumes books are great. They tell us what the Arab & Asia was look like. Every details was captured very carefully by the authors. Read these books, then imagine and feel all scenes, cultures, languages, clothes, and people of 16th century from arabian gulf to Moluccas islands. Although these books were written by Portuguese Nobleman and Captain which in some points they misjudged the Moslems, these book can be used as a comprehensive historical reference from the 16th century. The original Portuguese text also included in the second book, which adds their originality feeling.These books earn 5 stars, but I substracted one for their bindings. The charts and maps will easily loose from their's bindings if you are not careful. The printing is also in low quality.

By Mohammad DAMT - May 6, 2002These 2 volumes books are great. They tell us what the Arab & Asia was look like in 16th century. Every detail was captured very carefully by the authors. Read these books, then imagine and feel all scenes, cultures, languages, clothes, kingdoms, tribes and people of 16th century from arabian gulf to Moluccas islands. Although these books were written by Portuguese Nobleman and Captain which in some points they misjudged the Moslems (which were their enemies), these books can be used as a comprehensive historical reference from the 16th century. The original Portuguese text also included in the second book, which adds their originality feeling. The editor also helps us in understanding the story by adding footnotes and crossreferences along the pages.These books earn 5 stars, but I substracted one for the bindings. The charts and maps will easily loose from their bindings if you are not careful. The printing is also in low quality.
