This trip is the quintessential Vietnamese experience, a journey all across the country and right into its soul.
From the streets of Saigon to the capital city, from the tunnels of Cu Chi to heights of the Marble Mountains
and the magnificence of Halong Bay, this experience will take you to all the picture perfect spots in Vietnam.

We start down South in Ho Chi Minh City, a city of enterprise and growth with history running through its
veins. The cultures and events that have influenced the development of Vietnam leave their mark along the
streets of Saigon, from the French influenced Notre Dame Cathedral to the War Remnants Museum. From
there you crawl into a piece of living history at the Cu Chi tunnels, a vast underground network that was
instrumental in the Vietnam War.

We then journey to the Imperial City of Hue. Complete with high stone walls, the tombs of royals and ornate
pagodas, the city is the stuff of legend and lore. Built along the banks of the Perfume River, Hue was the
home of emperors, a city of warriors and was revered in its reign as capital.

A little away, the town of Hoi An is a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of the culture and history that is
very much alive in its streets. Walk through the cobblestone streets lined with beautifully restored Chinese
temples and assembly halls. This ancient port town was deeply influenced by the Chinese and Japanese
traders that called at its port and, in your time at Hoi An you will get to see this influence first hand in the
architecture of the town.

Our trip North then takes us to a stop off at the majestic Marble Mountains, just outside Danang. This cluster
of peaks named after the elements, offers picturesque views of the surrounds.

No trip to Northern Vietnam is complete without baring witness to the natural wonder of Halong Bay. The
limestone karsts rising out of the blue-green waters of the bay is an iconic image of Vietnam and a sight that
will take your breath away. A world heritage site in its own right, Halong Bay is filled with thousands of

Hue
As the capital city during the imperial times, Hue retains the majesty and splendor of a time of emperors.
Beyond the high walls of the city are ornate pagodas, royal tombs and beautifully landscaped gardens.
Hoi An
This quaint town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its history as an important ancient port. The
traders from the various cultures that passed through its streets left their own mark in the architecture. It is a
charming little town and walking through its streets feels like a trip to a different time.
Halong Bay
Also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Halong Bay is one of the great natural wonders of the world. The
pristine waters of the bay are filled with giant rock formations that rise out in different shapes and forms. The
islets are also filled with interesting caves and beautifully secluded coves.
Hanoi
You will fall in love with this capital city. It isn’t all boring bright lights and big modern city. It’s a unique place

Itinerary
This is one of ZiZ Inspire’s most popular Vietnam Vacation Packages as it gets beneath the skin of this
fascinating country and takes you to the parts so often missed by lesser Vietnam Vacation Packages. So
often visitors to Vietnam fly from North to South visiting Hanoi and Saigon whilst missing the towns and
beaches of central Vietnam which are some of the country’s most alluring facets.

During this Vietnam Holiday you kick off with a visit to the Cu Chi Tunnels before returning to Ho Chi Minh
City for a Saigon Tour. The itinerary then ventures northwards to Hue, Hoi An, Danang and onwards to the
final destination, Hanoi where you are treated to a Hanoi Tour to glean real insight into this fascinatingly
historic city, the capital of Vietnam.
Day 1: Saigon – Arrival
We pick you up from the airport for a transfer to your hotel. You have the rest of the day to wander the city
streets, taking in your first breath of Vietnam.
Day 2: Saigon – Cu Chi Tunnels – Ho Chi Minh City
We drive out to the tunnels of Cu Chi, the underground network that was home and hideout to the Vietcong
during the war. You get the chance to crawl through the narrow confines of the tunnels and right into a
tumultuous period of Vietnam’s past.

In the afternoon, we head back to Saigon where we tour the city and its sights. Staring off at the French
inspired Notre Dame Cathedral and Post Office, we then head out to the War Remnants Museum and
Presidential Palace for a dose of the past. The Palace is left standing as it was on the day the Northern
forces took over, complete with the tank that broke through the gates, still parked on the palace lawn.

Saigon’s different districts each have their own flavour and you get to experience some of it as we end the
evening in Cholon, the local Chinatown.
Day 3: Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) – Hue
Today we journey to the imperial city that was capital throughout the rule of thirteen generations of the
mighty Ngyuen Dynasty. Within the walls of the Forbidden City, you are transported to a different era. You
will get to enjoy this trip to the past as we explore the hidden tombs of royals, visit intricately designed
temples and the iconic Imperial Citadel. We then take a boat ride down the Perfume River to the Thein Mu
Pagoda, one of the oldest religious structures in all of Asia.
Day 4: Hue – Danang – Hoi An
We start the day visiting the royal tomb of the Tu Duc, the poet emperor; the burial ground is extensive,
complete with a lake and pavilion. In contrast to this opulence is the simplicity of Khai Dinh’s tomb which is a
structure that combines Eastern and Western design elements. From tomb raiding we then head on to
Danang via the Hai Van Pass, a road that meanders through the mountain. It’s a picturesque journey all the
way to Hoi An.

Day 5: Hoi An – Danang – Hanoi
At Hoi An, prepare to be charmed by the simple beauty of this city. Its streets are lined with architectural
gems that draw influence from the many cultures that passed through the port. After getting a chance to take
in the quaint city, we journey across the river to rediscover some of the traditional industries that are still
much alive today. This includes pottery and brink making, woodcarving and boat building. These are the
trades that built up this port city and allowed it to flourish.

On our way back to Danang we stop off at the majestic Marble Mountains. The five limestone peaks pay
homage to the five elements that were traditionally regarded as essential; fire, water, wood, earth and metal.
Once you’ve taken in the view we head to the airport and it’s straight to Hanoi.
Day 6: Hanoi – Halong Bay
A few hours’ drive out of Hanoi, takes us to the spectacular Halong Bay. This geological wonder and
UNESCO World Heritage Site just takes your breath away. As the boat makes its way into the bay and the
brilliant rock formations come into view, it is simply awe inspiring.

The cruise takes us through the hidden marvels in the bay, its intricate caves and secluded coves. The
waters of the bay are perfect for a swim or kayaking to explore the various nooks and crannies. End off the
day on the deck, watching the brilliant blend of colours as the sun sets on Halong Bay. This trip allows you to
take in the full experience of Halong Bay and the changes in atmosphere from morning to day and into the
dark of night.
Day 7: Halong Bay – Hanoi
Today, the morning is yours to spend as you wish on the waters of Halong Bay. In the afternoon, we head
back on the road to Hanoi.

Once there we delve right into the capital city, visiting the oldest university in the land, the Temple of
Literature and Museum of Ethnology which brings together the various cultures from across Vietnam. Join
the locals escaping from the busy city, by the banks of Hoan Kiem Lake, its central oasis.

You then get the chance to journey on cyclo through the magical streets of the Old Quarter. Here time
seems to have turned back as the Asia of old comes to life in the peddlers, corner shops and commerce of
the winding, narrow streets.
Day 8: Hanoi – Departure
On your last day in Vietnam, you have the day to spend at liberty. Go shopping, wander through the streets
or just sit down at one of the sidewalk cafes and strike up a conversation with the locals. It’s the best way to
really get to know a place. After that you will be transferred from your hotel to the airport for your return flight.
