ThecaseofCatherineKieuBeckerwil thereforeunlikelyendpoorlyforbothherandherhusband. Ifonecansaythat
acaseofpeniledismembermenthadahappyending,thatiswhathappenedwiththeBobbit s:Johnrecoveredfrom
hisinjuryandparlayeditintoashortlivedfame,andLorenawasacquit ed,livedasurprisinglynormallife,andlater
foundedanorganizationfordomesticabusevictims.Mr.Beckerwil inal likelihoodnotbereunitedwithhismissing
bodypart,andMrs.Beckerfaceslifeinprisonforwhatappearstobeapremeditatedcrime. Inthiscase,thereareno
winners,exceptperhapsJayLenoandSigmundFreud.
