SCENE 1.
IT IS LATE IN THE EVENING.
TREVOR, 46, AND HIS SON JACK, 17,
ARE SITTING WATCHING TELEVISION
IN THEIR LIVING ROOM.
A KNOCK COMES AT THE FRONT DOOR.
TREVOR:
You expecting visitors?
JACK:
At this time?
TREVOR:
(STANDING UP) I'll get it.
WE HEAR TREVOR MOVE THROUGH A
DOOR INTO THE HALLWAY, UNLOCK THE
FRONT DOOR AND OPEN IT.
AT THE DOOR IS SAM, 19. HE HAS
BEEN DRINKING, BUT HAS BEEN
SHOCKED INTO SOBRIETY.
SAM:
Alright. Sorry. I just saw the light.
Would it be okay- could I just use
your phone a second?

TREVOR:
Are you alright?
SAM:
Yeah. I've just been sat out in the
driveway. This car came after me.
TREVOR:
What car? Come in.
WE HEAR TREVOR CLOSE THE DOOR
BEHIND SAM.
TREVOR (CONT'D):
Come through.
WE HEAR SAM AND TREVOR'S MOVE
THROUGH TO THE LIVING ROOM.
JACK:
(TO SAM) Alright.
SAM:
(NERVOUSLY TO JACK) Alright... I'm
Sam.
TREVOR:
Alright. What's gone on then? You say
you've been out in the driveway?
SAM:
I was walking down the road and this
car just pulled up. Tried to drag me
inside.
TREVOR:
Really. Who was it? Did you know them?

SAM:
No, no. It was just this random car.
TREVOR:
What type? Did you get the plates?
SAM:
No. There were a load of them in it.
They pulled up beside me and the door
opened. When they got out, I just
legged it... They chased after me and
tried to grab me through the window.
JACK:
Do you want a drink-
TREVOR:
What type of car? Were they Asians?
SAM:
No. White I think. It was red, it
might have been a golf. I'm not sure.
I just ran up the hill. They must have
stopped chasing me at the bottom. I've
been sat behind the bins in you
driveway to make sure they couldn't
come back and find me. I didn't even
realise the light was on till I looked
up.
TREVOR:
You think it'll be alright now then?
SAM:
I don't know. I'm just gonna get a
taxi back to my girlfriends and spend
the night there.

TREVOR:
That's where you were coming from was
it?
SAM:
Yeah, she lives lives round here. I've
been at hers all night. I live at the
other side of town. It's only usually
an hour walk or so back.
TREVOR:
You not got a phone on you?
SAM:
Nah. I didn't even think I'd need it.
TREVOR:
I'll give you a lift back if you want.
SAM:
I can get a taxi. She only lives round
the corner.
TREVOR:
It's fine. Just let me get my coat.
WE HEAR TREVOR OPEN THE DOOR INTO
THE HALLWAY AND RUN UP THE
STAIRS.
JACK:
Sit down if you want. (beat) It's bad
isn't it.
SAM:
Yeah. It was when they went to grab
me.

We don't usually get trouble round
here.
WE HEAR TREVOR COMING DOWN THE
STAIRS.
TREVOR:
(SHOUTING TO SAM) Alright. I'm ready.
SAM:
(TO JACK) Cya.
WE HEAR SAM MOVE THROUGH TO THE
HALLWAY AND TREVOR UNLOCK THE
FRONT DOOR.
TREVOR:
(SHOUTING TO JACK) I'll lock the door,
don't open it if anybody knocks.
JACK:
(SHOUTING TO TREVOR) Alright. Bye.
TREVOR:
(SHOUTING TO JACK) See you in a sec.
WE HEAR THE FRONT DOOR SHUT AND
LOCK.
END.
