Amy L. Kenworthy (Ph.D. University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill) has been a service-
learning practitioner and author for over 17 years and has served as guest editor for special
issues on service-learning in the Academy of Management Learning & Education, the
International Journal of Case Method Research & Application, the Journal of Management
Education and the International Journal of Organizational Analysis. She has published
numerous articles in leading academic journals including the Journal of Applied Psychology,
the Journal of Business Ethics and the Journal of Management Inquiry. She has won
teaching awards at the university, national and international levels and is internationally
known as one of the world’s leading experts in the domain of service-learning in management
education.
Jeff Brand – Board Member, HSS

Jeff Brand‘s research explores the effects of electronic media on audiences and the policy
imperatives that arise from presumed effects. He conducts most of his research on computer
game audiences and is author of the Interactive Australia series of studies for the Interactive
Entertainment Association of Australia. Jeff has published in the Journal of Communication,
Journal of Advertising Research, Educational Leadership, Asia Pacific Media Educator,
Communications & Strategies, Media International Australia and in edited texts in the field of
media. He is co-author (with Prof. Mark Pearson) of Sources of News and Current Affairs
(2001). Jeff has served as a consultant to the Australian Communications and Media
Authority, the Classification Board, the Special Broadcasting Service, and the Interactive
Entertainment Association of Australia. He completed his PhD in 1995 at Michigan State
University.

Chris Del Mar (BSc (Salf) MA MB BChir (Cantab) MD (Qld) FRACGP FAFPHM) was professor
and head of the discipline of general practice at the University of Queensland from 1994-2004
before coming to Bond. He has published over 150 papers in peer-reviewed journals, among
100 other publications. He has published 5 books and 19 book chapters. He is a well-
respected leader in evidence based health care, both contributing primary data, and
systematically reviewing the evidence for clinicians, with a wide knowledge of quantitative
evaluation methods. He is the Coordinating Editor of the Cochrane Acute Respiratory
Infections Collaborative Group, was Editor of the research section of the Australian Family
Physician, and is an assistant editor for the journal Evidence based Medicine. He was Chair of
the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) National Research Committee,
and was a President of the Australian Association for Academic General Practice. In 2008 he
was honoured with the RACGP's highest award, the Rose-Hunt medal.
Patrick Keyzer – Board Member, Law

Patrick Keyzer is a Professor of Law with a PhD in constitutional law from the University of
Sydney. Professor Keyzer is a barrister who has represented clients in constitutional cases in
the High Court of Australia and the Queensland Supreme Court and Court of Appeal, and has
also represented clients in communications to the United Nations Human Rights
Committee. Patrick has written or edited seventeen books on a range of topics, the most
recent being Community Engagement in Australian Legal Education, co-edited with Amy
Kenworthy and Gail Wilson. His research interest is access to justice. He is presently Chief
Investigator on an ARC Discovery Project about the Preventive Detention of High Risk
Offenders.
Christine Tom – Board Member, HSM

Christine Tom has an MBA from the University of Buckingham, a Graduate Diploma of
Executive Leadership from the Queensland University of Technology, a Masters of Educational
Studies from the University of Queensland, a Bachelor of Education from Mt Gravatt CAE and
a Doctor of Philosophy from Griffith University. Her area of expertise lies in the domain of

educational assessment. Her current research interests span throughout the domain of
medical education, including a focus on PBL tutorials in MBBS program and the design and
effectiveness of differing assessment methods. She was recently invited to speak on the
topic of “Multi Mini Interviews in the Bond MBBS program” at the 2008 Medical Education
Conference, AMEE.
Gail Wilson, Board Member, TLS

Prior to joining Bond, Gail’s career has spanned across teaching in higher education, adult
and vocational education institutions, and in senior management roles in the public and
private sectors, including higher education. Gail has served since 2005 on the executive of
the Higher Education Research and Development Society of Australasia (HERDSA). She is also
a member of several Australian and overseas journal review panels and has recently been
appointed to the Review Board of the Australasian Journal of Educational Technology (AJET).
She is one of three members of the Steering Committee of a large grant funded by the
Australian Learning & Teaching Council (ALTC) investigating the preparation of academics as
teachers in Australian higher education. Gail’s recent doctoral research published recently by
VDM Verlag examined the use of information and communications technology (ICT) in higher
education, incorporating a collective case study of six teachers, all early adopters of ICT, who
used ICT to facilitate their use of blended learning approaches to their on-campus teaching.
Fay Haisley – Board Member, ex-officio

Fay Haisley spent 20 years as a teacher and principal in N.S.W., the ACT, and Papua New
Guinea before moving to the USA for graduate degrees in 1971. In 1984 she was appointed
as Professor and Dean of the Benerd School of Education at University of the Pacific in
California and remained in that role until retirement as Professor and Dean Emerita in 1999.
During her tenure in the USA, Fay served on the Governmental Relations Board of the
American Association of Colleges of Teacher Education, The Unit Accrediting Board of the
National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), the Committee on
Accreditation for the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, and was the 1996-96
Chair of the Board of Directors of the Far West Regional Laboratory (WestEd). She has also
been a consultant and presenter in a variety of settings in the US, Canada, Europe and Asia.

Raoul Mortley AO was reappointed in October 2002 as Dean of the Faculty of Humanities &
Social Sciences after appointments as Vice-Chancellor at Newcastle and also at Bond
University. Since 1997 he has been a consultant to higher education and business, working
most recently through TFG International Pty.Ltd. He has worked for the Commonwealth
Government, the World Bank/IFC, and has also worked in nine individual universities in
Australia, and carried out a study on a student loans scheme in Vietnam. He has been Chair
of the NSW Vice-Chancellor’s Committee, Chair of the Australian Education office in
Washington, and Chair of the AV-CC Intellectual Property and Copyright Committee. His
scholarly work is in philosophy and the history of ideas and he has published a number of
books in this area.
