Desktop as a Service and the Mobile Operators
All that is being said about "The Cloud" these days and its future and benefits in professional and personal
computing, makes everyone curious and think about the concept of Desktop as a Service and its various utilities.
Over the past few years, there has been a rapid growth and expansion in remote desktop and its unique benefits
that have in turn paved the path for DaaS and its various utilities.
The very concept of accessing work or other errands through any computer in the world is nothing new. It can be
accessed from certain software application that has been introduced earlier. Therefore the question is, what is it
that makes DaaS a paradigm shift in the present day computer and internet technology?
What makes DaaS unique?
DaaS is capable of consolidating several costs related to the PC owner. These expenses include software,
hardware, backup hardware, internet providers, and monthly payment for a comprehensive remote access
including electricity. Furthermore, one does not need to own a desktop that will run in office or home 24 x 7, in
order to be available on demand. At the same time, there are several who have switched to mobile broadband
solutions, while they are on the go, while they continue to possess additional ISP expenses at their residence
for the host PC. Power is unpredictable. As a result, uninterrupted power supply is added along with an external
storage for backup, to give data redundancy if there is any data corruption or hardware failure.
Service providers of Desktop as a Service solutions provide customers with flexible desktop delivery. This is done
without compromising any of the related Windows application. DaaS on a 3G network on demand is going to
be an apt extension for providing complementary revenue generating services. With the available broadband
networks at home, the Desktop as a Service provider offer not only software but also rather an entire desktop
that is customized as per the user's requirement for mobile operators and ISP's. Most users and customers
would find this desktop delivery model extremely compelling because these desktops cab be delivered to any
and every equipment where the user wants. Further, they are equipped with a synching and caching mechanism
that enabled the mobile operators and ISP's to assure desktop delivery services even amidst unstable network
conditions.
