ECAuto Body - Auto Body Repair San Francisco
So now that summer is nearing an end in the San Francisco Bay Area, it is very
important for all automobile drivers and especially automobile owners to do a
maintenance checkup - not just a oil change. In the auto body repair for San
Francisco Bay Area, we have seen auto collision accidents that could have been
easily avoided had the owner taken the time and small amount of money to have
their car maintained as seasons change and different weather conditions are
experienced in the San Francisco Bay Area.
ECAuto Body has learned very important information from the National Highway
Traffic Safety Administration that automobiles that have had proper maintenance,
as the seasons changed, are significantly less likely to be in auto accidents.
ECAuto Body - Auto Body Repair experts for the San Francisco Bay Area want to
let all drivers know the importance of maintaining your car -not just so that it
performs well, but also so that you and all your passengers (including your kids) are
safe on the road wherever you go in San Francisco.
Tire Check as the Seasons Change
Now we know that you heard us say it before, but ECAuto Body urges you and all
automobile drivers in the San Francisco Bay Area to do a routine maintenance and
pay special attention to tires.
What to Look for:
The most visually obvious indicator is low tire pressure. ECAuto Body has seen and
performed auto body repair for cars that were in accidents and tire pressure was
very low and the steering alignment was not balanced, and also traction control is
compromised. Driving with low tire pressure is dangerous.
NHTSA estimates that at least 400 fatal car accidents per year are caused because of
tires and almost half could have been avoided had the owners properly maintained
the tires as the seasons changed.
Little Insider Secret - Check How Old the Tire is:
Find the letters "DOT" located on the sidewall of the tire.
EC Auto Body - Auto Body Repair experts in the San Francisco Bay Area want to
inform all our customers, all drivers and all readers reading this about tires.
Every tire has a date of which it was manufactured - just like your milk has a
expiration date on the container - tires have a date, but it is the date when it was
manufactured.
Find the letters "DOT" located on the sidewall of the tire.
The 4 digits next to the DOT are the week and year the tire was manufactured
Tires are made out of special rubber compound and just like milk, they age and
begin to deteriorate as they are exposed to environmental conditions from weather,
sun, pot holes, different road conditions. To determine how old your tires are,
simply identify the DOT - then look for the last 4 digits stamped into the tire - the
picture above shows "3509". The "3509" means that the tire was manufactured on
the 35th week in the year 2009, and this tire is in good condition, not brand new, but
also not old. 5 years of usage is usually the life of an average tire, but many times it
can be less because it all depends on how much stress the tire has experienced as it
age
Driving with worn out tread and old tires is NOT safe
