First season of a club
Does sound a good game when
you talk about it
You choice the team pick
players (tactical games)
Why do you like that game
I think the idea of it being

sporty was the first thing which
brought me to the game but
also I like the idea of being the
manager, so you have more
control than just screaming at
the TV (when the manager does
something stupid)
Do you like the game sims
Yer, I’ve got that I tend to go in

and out of that really

Do you think the game is a easy Which game
Moving eye brows a lot

Football manger?
It can be easy and it can be
Sighing

like the fact you can link it up
with your tv over the xbox
Why do you prefer it over the
Well its more, it’s just what we

xbox
got but if it was my choice I
think I would have had the xbox

my brothers friends have the
ps3
Do you think it’s to do with the
No.

fact that he goes to a high class
I think it’s more the features

But like Xbox you have to pay
to the ps3 than the xbox?
about £40 a year for xbox live
unlike PS3 were it is free so the
xbox is cheaper to buy but cost
more in the length of its life
Is the ps3 your favourite consol
I think it depend on the game

more than the consol

do you prefer the way you
I like the new concept like

Do you like the interface of
I like the layout but I normal

windows such as the way you
don’t put it in the bin I normal

can put the trash in the dustbin just hit delete

Does it affect you in the real
I don’t think it effects me of my

world are you more likely to
choices, I would if it’s
put something in the bin or just something small like paper but
throw it and hope it lands in
if it’s like food packaging, I
the bin
don’t think the layout of the
virtual world influence me in
the real world
Has anything in the virtual
Yer

world influenced you in the real One of the reasons I got my
world as simple as talking to
new phone is its designed for
friends on face book and then
social networks
meeting up?
So your using it to connect?
Do you like the idea of
Yer (erm) on ps3 don’t really

connecting with your friends
use it as my friends don’t have

notes
Would you take risks in the real Depends if i think I can handle it Playing with hands
world
if i think i can i will
What about taking risks in the
Yes

virtual world?

Why?
For example call of duty I now I
can come back 5 second latter
Do you like the idea of saving
Yes
(likes to be in control)
points within the game rather
I much prefer that because I
than you have to start from
was playing football manger
scratch every time you start
the other day with my new club
up?
at it crashed on me and i hadn’t
saved it and i got real fed up
and had to go and leave the
game and the computer

Need for speed within the first

game you couldn’t take any
damage but in the others you
can.
Why do you think they changed I don’t now erm its coursing

that?
you to take less risk within the
game
What’s you perfect idea of a
I would look at the sort of
Leaning back
virtual environment?
games I play such as
Holding his hands in his lap
tom clarke's hawks(not sure
about spelling), first person
shooter but all done in a
airplane, were you control the
plane and shoot at other
airplanes
and call of duty mix between
them that sort of layout

Exercises 1:
Description: Showing me on the controller what each button does within your favourite game
(draw + label) + audio record
Consol control:

Very fast quick and new all controls

Weird when you think you don’t look at the controller when you play a game

Change gun

R1 = shoot
L1 = aim

R2 = throw grenade

L2 = throw special grenade
Duck / grouch / crawl
Jump

Special only

Reload

Running around

Push in to sprint
Aiming

Push in to use knife

Exercises 2: visual images
Description: I want to understand the types of virtual environments you like the most; here I have a
list of pictures I want you to pick the 3 that best fit to your style the most (focusing mainly on the
environment)

List of pictures:

Sims 3
Star Wars Force Unleashed
New Super Mario Bros wii

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
Call of Duty: Black Ops

Pac man

Guitar Hero III

Portal 2
Need for Speed Most Wanted

Notes:
His leaning forwards (to look closely at each image)
Picked call of duty, assassins creed, Mario

FIFA 11

More notes from audio recording:
Guitar hero = not very good when you look at it normal just focus on the playing rather than the
surroundings
Star wars = 80s blocks out of date (not designed to look like that but feels like that)
Modern games you wont realise it was that game without the title unlike pac man and super Mario
brothers

respond
Name of game:
tom clancy’s hawx 2

Focused on screen (doesn’t look away)
Leaning back (relaxed)
Game – repetitive music – dynamic music

Notes:
Puts seat back and relaxes wail game loads

Grinting teeth
Moving lips
Sighing
more violent Hand movements
leaning forward more in some scenes
when asked to many questions in real life he dies within the virtual world
takes brakes in between games
leaning towards left
tries to calm down after every death (must think that less stress will help)
leaning right
pointing toes up when is more intense action within the game
low feet when less stress
seat up palled up at start of game (dies straight away)(proves to be worse at the game play)
has signs of the epic win face (eyes and eye brows move up lips out)

name of game:
FIFA 11 EA Sports
Notes:
Odd angle

Exercises 5: looking things up on the web
Look up certain things on the web

(a piece of news or something about a person you don’t know about)
Typed in url: www.bbc.co.uk – click sports – scroll down page – football side link

Look up something in your favourites
Don’t really use favourites, uses Google chrome not got favourites like internet explorer, you start
typing and if it something you’ve all ready done it comes up

Find out what was Tim Burton first movie?
Typed in url: www.google.com – search – tim burton – Wikipedia – back – search – time burton first
movie – typed in url: www.answer.com – back – 3rd one down (Tim Burton collective) – clicked –
search page – first movie

The interview was held within my bed room so the person may have felt out of place however the
room was also in his home?

“What do you like about the ps3 the most?
Andrew (brother) that original got it, and I just play on it but I like the fact you can link it up with
your TV over the Xbox”
(The thing that seems to matter most is family this can be seen from what he has said but should
also be obverses from his age which means his still legally under the care of his parents)

Exercise 4: shows that he likes to be relaxed when play “Leaning back (relaxed)” and play “tactical
games”
This may show that he likes things that are mentally challenging not just physically

Next time I wish to focus on more general topics more so than what I did hear which was focus on
the virtual world as I thought this was what we were aiming for.
