Floyd Mayweather Workout Routine Floyd Mayweather, born Floyd Sinclair, is a professional boxer who has yet to be defeated. As a nine time champion in five different weight divisions, many argue that he is the best pound for pound fighter in the world. A bout with Manny Pacquiao would help solidify that argument. Below I describe Floyd Mayweather’s workout routine. Floyd Mayweather Training Philosophy Floyd Mayweather is a workout machine. He can run 5 minute miles, do 40 pullups, and 200 situps without even breaking a sweat. He really is a combination of an old school boxer and commercial health club guru. Mayweather wants to be fit, solely to be fit, not necessarily to be a better boxer. He believes in staying very active. He performs intense workouts, especially when he has an audience. Mayweather is determined to be the best conditioned boxer in the world. He never goes into a fight thinking his opponent will outlast him. Most boxers begin training 12 weeks in advance of a fight and often need to cut weight. However, Mayweather stays within 3-4lbs of his weight by jumping rope, playing basketball, and performing body weight exercises 2 times per week. He enjoys staying active so that he is within only a few workouts of peak condition all year. Mayweather also incorporates a healthy diet void of drinking and smoking to help sculpt his body. Floyd Mayweather Workout Routine Mayweather’s workout routine involves hours of running, jumping rope, crunches, speed bag work, heavy bag work, sparring, and even pickup basketball games. Mayweather can land jabs blindfolded, hit the mitts blindfolded, and throw thousands of punches in a 20 minute span. In some workouts, Mayweather has gone for an hour straight without a break, hitting mitts, the heavy bag, the speed bag (762 times in 7 minutes!), jumped rope, and even did floor exercises Boxers like Mayweather need to have a combination of power and speed. Sparring and practicing is the best way to improve these. However, a great boxing routine could include alternate footing jump rope for 5 minutes, cross over jump rope for 5 minutes, medicine ball catch for 5 minutes, jumping jacks for 3 minutes, heavy bag training for 10 minutes and speed bag training for 5 minutes.
